The Whole World's Scared S o I s w a l l o w t h e F e a r
The quiet rustle of palm tree leaves against each other was... resting, to say the least. It filled the deadly silence of the island. Echo bowed on her chest and stretched with a yawn. Glowing golden light poured in through the cracks of the fanning leaves. The humidity clung to Echo's fur like a wet cloth. Clouds lay on the horizon, but the storms wouldn't come until the night. Getting to her paws, Echo shook herself and headed through the coastal forest. Not a wolf had passed through the territory since the day Echo had wandered here by the instructions of a kind wolf.
It had been a shock to find not a shred of life here. In fact, the sandy colored wolf had been ready to turn and go back home in despair. However, sudden indignation had steered her away from that. A burst of anger, had told her to stay and claim the land for herself. Echo did, and she was the sole Alphaess of the Tribe of Island.

The large black brute walked with his usual swagger, not really fearing any single thing. Though, to tell the truth, this tropical scene really wasn't his style. He much preferred the dark shadowy corners of home. Though, if he stayed at home all the time, it probably wouldn't be so dear to his heart, now, would it?
As the dark wolf continued, he became aware of another's presence. Someone, it appeared, was in the vicinity. Perhaps a scare would be in order? The black and red wolf walked silently, following his nose and instincts. Though many scents kept distracting his poor nose. By the smell he could detect, however, who he was tracking was a lone female.. which may turn out good for him.
He stepped out into a miniature clearing, spotting his prey. A pale brown wolf, her fur the color of sand. Not very pretty, but hey, you take waht you can get. "Good evening, madam. May I have the absolute pleasure of knowing the name of one with such radiance?" He smiled, all fox. What a great liar he was!

Once you get used to the smell of brine and damp foliage, you can scent everything under that mask of smells. Just like all of your other senses adjust to the sounds and feelings of a particular landscape. Echo strode along in leisure as she wondered what to do today. Of course, when she scented a brute from downwind, she was instantly suspicious. There was the one in a million chance that he would just pass without noticing her, but that was a sad hope if there ever was one. Echo stopped in her tracks and tried to face the rough direction in which the other wolf was.
It was only after he had spotted her, that she managed to spy him. His dark pelt put Echo on edge and his charming voice was a little too... charming. The Island wolf never had liked overboard personalities. She leveled his gaze easily and tilted her head to the left slight.
"You may not. You have trespassed on my lands, you owe me your own name before I owe you anything."
Her voice held strong and her will was adamant.

The brute humorously took the fae's lip, after all, she's all alone, her scent said that much, at least. He could handle it, the male was sure. After all, how much trouble was a lone female? "Oh, pardon my rudness, madam. My name is Eclipse, Eclipse of the Sun. Though, I do feel the need to point out that I never demanded anything, I requested it. Therefore, I never did really say you owed me anything," He smiled again, trying to go for the dumb look. After all, he didn't give his name out enough for a newcomer to know of him.
"Though, are you sure you're alright out here? Not that I doubt you're abilities, you seem capable enough. but then, you don't know the loners around here," He said, eyes twinkling as he walked closer. To speak truthfully, there where only he and one other, though he has yet to meet the other. Faint scent trails speak to him, however, telling of a lone female. that's all they say about the other loner, however. Maybe it was time for him to find a mate and settle down...

Echo did not like the situation at all. In fact, she quite disliked this male. He was too lenient and all too trying with his charm. No one spoke like that anymore, enough with the madame's and the impeccable proper grammar. This whole situation was just wrong. The hair on the back of Echo's neck stayed risen as he smiled again. Her ears turned backwards and flattened a little. Echo watched his every movement like a hawk.
"It was implied."
She answered him shortly, her crystal blue eyes stared him down, unwavering from their duty. This Eclipse was far too interested in her capabilities and just her period. Her lips pulled back slightly as he walked closer. White fangs peeked out from under them. If it wasn't clear to this trespasser that he wasn't welcome, then further steps would be taken to make sure he didn't miss the signs again.
"I assure you," She growled curtly, "I am just fine by myself."
That twinkle in his eye was far too menacing to be any type of concern. Echo prided herself by her instincts, and the feelings she was getting now were not good ones. She grinned sarcastically at him.
"And who are you to be telling me what I know and what I do not know?" She accused, standing her ground carefully. "You are trespassing on my land. I don't like it. I'll give you a chance to leave now."

Heh-heh-heh. He was making her uncomfortable. Perfect. He could use some action. No, let's have some fun. "Tresspassing is such Strong word. I prefer impinging," He said cunningly, beginning to circle the she-wolf. He brushed his blood-red tail-tip under her chin charmingly as he passed. His eyes took in everything, from her threatened position to the wave markings that dressed her pelt.
Still, this was getting tedious, even for him. He wasn't really in the mood for this right now, the humidity was making his fur crawl, so if he wasn't going to get any action, might as well ruin her day and be on with it. "You're getting rather bothersome, girl," He growled, the glint in his eye turning menacing.
He huffed, giggling evilly. "Give me a chance? I'll leave when I'm good and ready. Unfortunately for you, you don't know my name. But you will now. Though, maybe you know my other name. I'm my Father's Son," He snarled, fur raising all at once to double his size menacingly.

His dancing around her words, was getting a little... boring. This Eclipse was just a pest, and nothing much to be afraid of. All bark and no bite. Echo glared at him from under her icy blue stare. However harmless he was didn't remove the fact that he was being rude and intrusive. As Eclipse started to circle Echo, she kept her eyes on him- up until he touched her with his tail. At that she snapped her fangs at the tip, not really trying to bite him but just as a warning. It would certainly be just as effective if he was to get a little bit of fur torn out of his blood red tipped tail. His sudden change in personality wasn't surprising, his kind were all the same. Try the charm, and if it gets a little too trying, give up the chivalry and get down to the threats.
"As are you, brute."
She spat at him, her lips still pulled above her teeth. His sigh and manic giggling was slightly disconcerting, but it only earned him a raised eyebrow. Has he forgotten that he had, in fact, told me his name? Echo thought to herself with a small, amused smile. His whole snarling, and puffing up was making him look an awful lot like a scared cat. Echo tilted her head thoughtfully before giving him a snarky grin.
"Aw. A daddy's boy then? Too bad, boyo, your whole evil is lost on me." She growled to him before chuckling sarcastically and stepping forward, getting closer to his face.
"Now," She added with an angelic smile. "Get off of my land!" Echo barked, unnecessarily loudly in his face, anger flaring into her every features.

Eclipse could read her expression, and the raised eyebrow. "Oh, come on. I don't literally mean my name. Do you really think I'm that daft? Give my some credit! I mean my reputation," He said boredly. God, she was so damn predictable! Couldn't this moody fae surprize him for once? He looked back toward her with a death glare of his own.
"You're all alone, smaller, and less experianced than I. Do yuo really think you could beat me, even if you wanted to? Tch. I was trained in the art of killing. You really thing a little pansy like you will phase me?" He asked, poking her with his red paw. Hopefully he'd get some fun out of this. Life certainly was getting boring.

Echo rolled her eyes. Now, this was pathetic. Didn't this wolf have a life? I mean, come on, it seemed like he had nothing better to do. Which was pathetic. Of course Echo knew that he didn't mean it literally. It's called sarcasm for those who don't know yet. This Eclipse had a reputation, but that meant nothing to the Island leader. Until he showed he was something more than an annoyance, it didn't change a thing. Echo met his death glare evenly, contempt raised in her eyes. Her muscles shifted under her pelt; enough was enough. Echo laughed harshly at his overconfidence. Did no one know how to be humble? Or at least, for goodness sake, to not underestimate an opponent they knew nothing about?
“Are you thick as well as blind?”
If this wolf wasn’t unstable, Echo didn’t know who was. From his looks he had about almost a hundred pounds weight on his side, but that could just as well be fat as it could be muscle. Echo had the around four inch height on her side. Living on the Island was hard, so more than thirty five pounds of her mere seventy pound weight was pure muscle. Echo smiled at Eclipse menacingly, her eyes glinting.
”Actually, I do. What do you think you know about my life anyway? I could be just as experienced as you.” Echo growled before she shrugged. ”Maybe I don’t phase you now, you sadistic Curr, but soon I will.”
Echo answered him calmly. This brute had had more than enough chances to leave, it was time an elder-wolf like him learned his place. Her eyes locked onto the Grey of his muzzle as she sprung at him.

Eclipse snarled as the fae lept at him, moving to take the hit on his shoulder. He didn't have time to move from this mostly-unexpected attack, and the shoulder was the most-defended spot on his body, other than his neck. He grinned joyfully as pain seeped into his shoulder, an unexpected reaction for anyone who had never fought him before. Ah, the pain... It felt so wonderful! He felt so alive!
"It'll take more than that to bring me down, you little hussy!" He growled, and twisted his head over his shoulder, fangs searching for any availiable flesh to lastch onto. He'd drag her off of him, then he'd give her some wounds to think about. Maybe he'd handicap her, like that otehr loner, so she could slowly starve to death, unable to hunt.
Suddenly, another fae leapt gracefully out of the jungle. "Echo-sama! Who's your friend?" THe wolf yapped, acting very puppy-like. Her posture was high and playful, like a puppy's, as well. Her yellow eyes turned to the pair now, cold as ice and calculating. "I don't think they're friends, yes?" She said out of the blue, as if talking to herself. Then her green eye opened once more, and the yellow closed. "Really? How can you tell?" Her tail wagged, contenuing her self-conversation. The green eye once again closed, the yellow opening. "The fact that they're locked in deadly combat kinda tipped me off, yeah?" The colder side said again, and this time she stayed in control. "You need help with this bastard, un?" She said, sounded very bored.

"Echo, Wisteria, whats going on?" Lunar asked as she walked out of the bushes. Her aqua markings shining in the wind nad her pelt smelling of herbs and berries. She gently put the small bundle of herbs down on the ground and looks over at Eclipse. "Who are you? She asked politely. Even though she was trained to fight, she didn't belive that violence was needed unles there's a reason too. Her eyes shining in the sun's light, making them glow, full of life. He fur sleeked and showing her perfect body. She sat downa nd wrapped her tail around her front paws, waiting for the strange wolf to speak. She looks over at Echo with concern eyes. "Is it really neccesary to fight Echo? After all, that wolf hasn't cause any harm to us or to the tribe." She said quietly as she turned her head to look at the other wolf again. "Can you please tell us why your here and maybe we can help you." She said politely as she smiled slightly. She can feel the wind blowing gently and the water moving gently and so she knows that their Mother Wolf of Water isnt angry at this wolf.

His teeth caught her shoulder, a small gash formed there as she released her hold an him and stepped back. Her tail twitched at the end, her teeth bared. Just before Echo was about to attack again, Wisteria leaped out of the palm tree forest and started talking to herself. Oh joy. Wisteria was a… character. Echo kept her eyes trained on Eclipse as she let the maned wolf go through her conversation. Wisteria’s last sentence couldn’t help but be smiled at. A small smirk graced Echo’s muzzle for only a second.
”He should be just leaving, but if not then yes you could help me.”
It wasn’t that Echo needed help, but it would be ungracious and conceited to deny the packs help. The young female glared at Eclipse as she straightened herself and gestured to the closest borders of the Island Territory.
”There’s the border, brute. I suggest you take your leave.”
Then, Lunar entered. Her pretty little kindness lightening the atmosphere. Echo narrowed her eyes as the medicine wolf seemed to… take over the situation. As if she were Alphaess herself. Echo growled slightly under her breath and shook her head.
”Lunar,” Her voice was guarded. ”He’s had his chance, he isn’t here to play nice.”

Eclipse stepped back as two others arrived. He may have been proud, but he was not a fool. He knew when it was time to back down, and plan another attack. Perhaps he should dance around the territory's boundries, attacking prey to kill, and leave their precious food sources to rot? It would be a good revenge, if he didn't say so himself. Something along the lines of what Shadow did.
He chuckled darkly, inspecting the shallow wound on his shoulder. "I'm not as.. unintelligent as you believe. I'll go peacefully for now, since even teh strongest wolf cannot win if he is outnumbered. However, I will be back," He laughed menacingly again, thinking of the many possiblities. Perhaps chase her and her gang of flea-bitten faes into the Father Wolf's forest? "You can be sure of that, little Hussy!" With that, he spun on his paws, leaving with a proud dark grace that befitted royalty.
Wisteria watched him go, giving a huff of disappointment when he did not stand and fight. "I was looking forward to a fight... I never get a fight anymore, yeah..." She said sadly, her darker side giving up control. Her lighter half looked after the wolf sadly. "Bye-bye, friend!" She cheered happily, yipping in excitement. Though exactly why she was excited, she didn't know. "Echo-sama, what game shall we play now?" she asked, tail waving happily. Suddenyl, she froze, staring at something on the ground. Then, she jumped, running to jump onto Luna. "Ahh! Luna-san! It's a spider!" She yapped in fear, staring wide-eyed at the turantula that was now where she stood only moments before.

"Theres nothing to fear Wisteria. Spiders won't harm you unless you scare them." She said sweetly as layed her tail in front of the spider. She smiled as she watched the spider gently crawl onto her tail. Slowly lifting it up, she moved her tail over to a bush. "There you go little spider." She said sweetly as she watched the spider walk off. As she watched the spider, her mind drifted off to Eclipse. The way he talked and moved. It made her want to be near him all the time. She felt her face burn as she continued to think about him. Shaking her head, she looked back at Wisteria and Echo. "Do you two want to help me look for some more herbs?" She asked them. She has been running low on a few herbs and she needed to get some more. She also need a few extra herbs for an offering gift to the Mother Wolf of Water's Lake when the full moon is high. For she also needed to ask the Mother Wolf of Water a few questions about a few things.

Echo stared after Eclipse, her eyes narrowed. As soon as he was out of sight the Island fae shook herself a little and licked the small wound on her shoulder. It was barely worth the time, a mere break in the skin and nothing more. Next time Eclipse came, he wouldn’t have any chances. Egomaniacal wolves were such a pain. She glanced up at the sky, hearing Wisteria’s chatter in the background. That whole scene had been a huge waste of time. Still, there was day enough to patrol and hunt. Wisteria’s yelp brought Echo’s thoughts back. The leader couldn’t help but smile a little at Wisteria’s innocent side. Most spider’s weren’t quite poisonous around here. Lunar handled it well, anyway.
Echo’s eyes locked onto the medicine wolf as she asked a question. Pondering it for a second, she nodded slightly. It would make hunting and patrolling slower, but multitasking was never a bad thing, was it?
”Of course,” Echo answered, her voice a little… stiff? She looked at Wisteria, waiting for her answer.
